Responsible Gambling

A casino visit should be a fun part of your trip. Here is how to keep it that way, and where to find free, confidential help.

Gambling is entertainment, not income

Casinos are designed so that the house wins over time. Treat any money you spend at the tables or machines as the cost of entertainment, just like a show or a fine dinner. Suns Resort does not offer gambling, but because we write about casinos we take safer gambling seriously.

Tips for safer play

  • Set a budget before you enter the casino and stick to it
  • Decide how long you will play and take regular breaks
  • Never chase losses or borrow money to gamble
  • Leave bank cards in the hotel safe and bring only what you plan to spend
  • Avoid gambling when stressed, upset or after drinking alcohol
  • Balance gambling with the many other things a resort offers

Warning signs

  • Spending more money or time than you intended
  • Feeling the need to gamble with increasing amounts
  • Lying to friends or family about gambling
  • Gambling to escape problems or difficult feelings
  • Feeling restless or irritable when trying to cut down

If any of these sound familiar, please reach out. Support is free, confidential and available in many languages.

Minimum ages

Casinos on our list require guests to be 21 or older in Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore, and 18 or older in Monaco, the Bahamas, Australia and South Africa. Casinos will ask for valid photo ID. Underage gambling is illegal.

Self exclusion and blocking tools

Most casinos and jurisdictions offer self exclusion programmes that let you ban yourself from gambling venues for a set period. Ask the casino guest services desk or your local regulator. Free and paid blocking tools such as Gamban and BetBlocker can also block gambling websites on your devices.

Play for fun, set your limits

Casino gambling is for adults only and should always be entertainment, never a way to make money. Decide your budget before you play, take breaks and never chase losses.
